Who it’s for

You’ve already got experience. What’s next?

You don’t have to start from scratch to become an OBM. Many of the skills involved in managing online businesses are developed in roles like virtual assistance, operations, project management and team leadership.

The OBM Runway helps you see how those skills translate, where you might need to grow and what stepping into the OBM profession could look like for you.

01

Experienced virtual assistants

You’ve moved beyond simply completing tasks. You’re coordinating projects, managing systems, supporting business owners and keeping things running. Now you’re wondering whether you could turn that experience into a more strategic offer.

02

Corporate professionals

You’ve developed valuable skills in operations, project management, administration, business support or team leadership. You’re curious about how that experience could translate into working independently with online business owners.

03

Emerging OBMs & independent professionals

Perhaps you’re already taking on more operational responsibility, managing projects or offering strategic support to clients. You can see yourself building a career in online business management, but you’d love more clarity around your positioning, your offer and how to find the right clients.

You may already have more of the skills you need than you realise. The OBM Runway will help you find out how to use them.

Why start now

What could another year of waiting cost you?

Maybe becoming an OBM has been on your radar for a while. You’ve looked into the role, thought about training and wondered whether your experience is enough to get started.

But there’s only so much you can figure out by reading about it.

At some point, you need to start putting the pieces together. What could you offer? Who would you love to work with? And how do you actually start finding those clients?

That’s where The OBM Runway comes in. A practical way to explore the profession, put your experience to work and start moving forward.

What staying where you are costs you

  • Another year of watching other people land the clients you could be serving.
  • Undercharging, or not charging at all, because you’re not sure how to communicate your value.
  • Holding off on any next step because you’re not sure which one is right for you.
  • Continuing to tell yourself you’ll start when you feel ready.

What The OBM Runway gives you

  • A real understanding of the role before you commit to anything bigger.
  • The confidence to talk about your skills and the value you bring.
  • An offer you can begin taking to market.
  • Support to start conversations with prospective clients.
  • Practical resources and honest feedback from an experienced Accountability Mentor.

You don’t need every answer before you start. Some of them come from getting started.

Start The OBM Runway
What you’ll achieve

From wondering if you could do this to knowing what you have to offer.

By the end of The OBM Runway, you’ll have done more than learn about the OBM profession. You’ll have worked through the practical steps of identifying your strengths, understanding your ideal clients and creating an offer you can begin putting in front of them.

  1. Understand the OBM role

Discover what online business managers really do and how their responsibilities differ from task-based support.

  2. Recognise your existing value

Identify the skills and experience you already bring, and learn how to communicate them confidently.

  3. Know who you want to serve

Get clear on the types of clients you’re best positioned to support and what matters to them.

  4. Build your OBM offer

Put together a clear offer that reflects your skills, positioning and the value you can deliver.

  5. Start taking action

Identify potential clients, begin thinking about outreach and take practical steps towards your first conversations.

  6. Know what comes next

Receive personalised feedback on your offer and leave with a clearer direction for your next steps.

Inside The OBM Runway

Five modules. Fifteen lessons. Delivered weekly.

Every module ends with practical action steps, each one building on the last, so week by week you put together your plan and an offer you can start selling.

Plan for around 90 minutes each week to watch the lessons and work through the activities.

  1. 01

The Realities of Being an OBM

What the role really involves day to day, where your existing experience fits, and the mindset shift involved in stepping into operational ownership.

  2. 02

Start Thinking and Working Like an OBM

Moving from completing tasks to taking ownership of outcomes. Learning to see the whole business rather than only individual responsibilities.

  3. 03

    Your Ideal Client

Exploring the types of clients you could serve, identifying who you’re best positioned to support and understanding what those clients value.

  4. 04

Let’s Ramp It Up, Build Your Business

Time to start putting your business together. You’ll look at the practical setup, get clearer on how to talk about your offer and begin identifying the clients you’d love to work with.

  5. 05

    Your First Independent Steps

This is where everything starts coming together. You’ll put the finishing touches on your offer, get ready for your one-to-one debrief and start looking ahead to what comes next.

Five modules later, you won’t just understand what an OBM does. You’ll have your own offer ready to share, with personalised feedback from your Accountability Mentor to help you take the next step.

Your completion milestone

Complete The OBM Runway and earn your IAOBM Industry Access Pass.

Issued by IAOBM when you complete all five modules, your Industry Access Pass recognises the work you’ve done and the first steps you’ve taken into the OBM profession. It’s a meaningful way to mark how far you’ve come, and a starting point for whatever comes next.

The Industry Access Pass is not a professional certification, qualification or accreditation, and does not confer CERTIFIED OBM status.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

I’m an experienced VA. Is The OBM Runway right for me?

It’s a great fit for many experienced VAs. If you’re already coordinating projects, managing systems or taking responsibility beyond individual tasks, The OBM Runway helps you see where that experience fits within OBM work, how to describe it and how to build an offer around it.

My background is corporate. Is that experience relevant?

Often, yes. Experience in operations, project management, administration, team leadership or business support can translate well. The OBM Runway helps you understand how it applies to working independently with online business owners.

How does the five-week program work?

One module is released each week for five weeks. Lessons are short videos of around ten minutes each, followed by practical action steps that build towards your finished offer. You’ll also have opportunities to connect with your Accountability Mentor as you progress. Plan for around 90 minutes a week.

How do I access my Accountability Mentor?

When you enrol through Momentum OBM, Lauren Corey is your Accountability Mentor. You’ll have opportunities to connect during optional Open Office Hours, receive personal check-ins as you progress and meet privately at the end of the program for your 1:1 Offer Debrief.

Are the live Open Office Hours compulsory?

No, they’re optional. They’re conversational sessions rather than formal teaching, so you won’t miss lesson content if you can’t attend. They’re a great place to bring questions and talk through what you’re working on.

What happens in the 1:1 Offer Debrief?

Once you’ve finalised your offer in Module 05, you’ll meet privately with Lauren to review it, refine your positioning and messaging, get personalised feedback and plan your next practical steps.

What does the Industry Access Pass represent?

Issued by IAOBM when you complete all five modules, the Industry Access Pass recognises the work you’ve done and the first steps you’ve taken into the OBM profession. It’s a meaningful milestone, but it is not a professional certification, qualification or accreditation.

Will completing The OBM Runway make me a Certified OBM?

No. The CERTIFIED OBM designation is earned only through Certified OBM Training, which includes a capstone project and assessment during Certification Week.

The OBM Runway and Certified OBM Training are separate programs that serve different needs and levels of readiness. The OBM Runway is a five-week introductory program that leads to an Industry Access Pass. Certified OBM Training is the professional certification. If you’re ready for certification, you can enrol in Certified OBM Training directly, without completing The OBM Runway first.

How does the certification credit work?

If you enrol in Certified OBM Training with Lauren as your Accountability Mentor within 90 days of receiving your Industry Access Pass, you’ll receive a $1,415 AUD credit towards your enrolment. The credit only applies when both conditions are met.

What is the investment?

The founding price for The OBM Runway is $1,415 AUD. The future full price will be $2,140 AUD.

All prices are in Australian dollars, and 10% GST is added to the program price for Australian customers. If you’re enrolling from outside Australia, your bank or card provider will convert the payment from AUD.

Will I be guaranteed a client?

Landing clients takes time, and no training program can promise when that first yes will happen. What The OBM Runway does is help you get ready to go after it, with a clear offer, a better idea of who you want to work with and practical support to start those conversations.

Your next step

Ready to turn your experience into an OBM offer?

Start The OBM Runway and turn the experience you already have into an offer you can take to market, with personal guidance from an experienced Certified OBM® along the way.
